Surfaces & groundwork

Four surfaces. One standard.

Choose the look you love. We build the ground beneath it, so it still looks this good in twenty years.

Block paving.

From £95/m²

Clay block paving in herringbone bond with a double granite sett border

Herringbone that stays put.

Herringbone blocks lock together, so they won't creep, rut or rock when you turn the car on them. We lay clay or concrete blocks on a deep, compacted stone base and set every edge in concrete, which is why the pattern stays crisp for decades.

Best for: full driveways, parking bays, anything a vehicle turns on. Available in charcoal, brindle and buff.

  • 90° herringbone
  • Vehicle-rated
  • Replaceable blocks

Resin bound.

From £110/m²

A smooth, permeable finish.

Rain drains straight through, so there are no puddles, no loose stones and no joints for weeds. On the right base it often avoids a separate soakaway and can keep a front drive within planning rules. We prepare that base properly, because resin is only as good as what's under it.

Best for: smooth, joint-free finishes, wheelchair and pushchair access, drives that puddle now.

  • Fully permeable
  • Low maintenance
  • Seamless finish

Patios & stone.

From £120/m²

Contemporary patio in pale grey porcelain slabs with hairline joints

A full mortar bed, not five blobs.

Many patios are laid on five dabs of mortar per slab, which leaves hollows that rock, crack and stain. We bed every slab on a full layer of mortar and lay it to a gentle fall away from the house, so it feels solid underfoot and rain runs off, not in.

Best for: porcelain, Indian sandstone, Yorkshire riven and granite. Sealed or unsealed.

  • Full mortar bed
  • Precision falls
  • Porcelain & stone

Tarmac & kerbs.

From £70/m²

Two hot-laid layers.

We lay two layers of tarmac and roll both while hot, so the surface stays tight and the edges don't crumble. Need a dropped kerb? We handle the Devon County Council application and paperwork, then install it to their specification.

Best for: long drives, farm tracks, budget-conscious resurfacing, vehicle crossings.

  • Two hot layers
  • Long approaches
  • Kerb applications
